Republican governor, Chris Christie and The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon appeared together in one of the show’s popular segments, “The Evolution of Dancing”.
New Jersey Gov. Christie busted a move on late night TV. How did this segment come about?
Fallon asked Christie to consider a hypothetical situation in which the Garden State governor were to run for the White House in 2016 against Democrat Hillary Clinton:
Fallon – “Do you think you could beat her?”
Christie- “You bet”
Fallon- “In a dance off?”
Christie- “That’s what I was talking about. What were you talking about?”
They broke out into dance moves such as “Don’t Make Me Turn This Car Around,” “The Passionate Elliptical” and “This Bridge is Closed.”
Christie discussed a luncheon that was given in his honor for winning “Father of the Year” by the Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council in Manhattan. He said “I have four children, you know, one of them showed up.” Fallon jokingly replied “But you ate the other three lunches.”
This was Christie’s first visit to a late-night talk show since the scandal over the lane closings at the George Washington Bridge erupted six months ago. Members of Christie’s inner circle are accused of closing access lanes to the George Washington Bridge last September, causing massive traffic jams in Fort Lee, New Jersey, in retribution because the borough’s Democratic mayor didn’t endorse Christie’s re-election last year. Christie has repeatedly denied any involvement in the alleged scheme.
