Back in the nineties, we had Nicktoons. We had Sega Genesis. And we had Robin Williams as a cross-dressing nanny with a hard-scrabble ‘tude and a set of huge rubber knockers (danger: flammable). Mrs. Doubtfire was one of those movies a kid like me could watch endlessly, and because of cable TV, it was too easy! Fox just announced a new sequel to the $400 million box office smash from 1993 that sent transvestite humor into the forefront for the first time since Tootsie!
The film is slated to be penned by Elf writer David Berenbaum and the director of the original, Chris Columbus, is expected to return to the helm. Robin Williams will of course return as the titular title role. So when you need some more help juggling several multi-gender personalities, look for Mrs. Doubtfire 2 in theaters soon!
