Zayn Malik, singer from the infamous UK boy band “One Direction”, is the victim of a very cruel April Fool’s Day prank. On Monday night, someone started the rumor that Malik had tragically passed away. Dedicated One Direction fans, immediately defended Malik and dismissed the rumors via Twitter. One fan wrote “Im Sorry but whoever started trending #ripzaynmalik needs to stop yall r sick @zaynmalik im really really sorry u dont deserve this”. Another added “April Fools Day is for making others laugh, not hurt feelings. Please, stop #RipZaynMalik because it is disrespectful and not even funny”.
Instead of replying to the rumors with malice, Malik has decided to take the high road, and ignore it. He has not made any comments at this time. A few of the fans turned the negative situation into a positive. The new twitter trend stated that RIP stood for “Really Inspiring Person”. A fan wrote “How many times I gotta say this #RipZaynMalik really means R=REALLY I=INSPIRING P=PERSON”.
Malik’s fiance, Perrie Edwards from the girl group “Little Mix”, recently admitted that she has been the target of many cruel comments online as well. Edwards and Malik got engaged in August 2013, after meeting on the set of The X Factor in December 2011. They are planning a wedding later this year.
