Oprah is one of the highest paid women in the world, so why is she evicting her stepmother from her home?
Barbara Winfrey was married to Oprah’s father for 13 years. As a wedding gift to the couple, Oprah bought her stepmom and dad a million dollar house in Nashville, Tennessee. However, as soon as the bitter divorce was finalized last year, Oprah had her stepmother evicted from the five bedroom house.
Oprah’s stepmother, Mrs. Winfrey, spoke about infidelity on Oprah’s father, Vernon’s part. Winfrey claimed that he later told Oprah that he was unhappy with the relationship, and Oprah came up with a plan to “make all the scandal he’d done go away.”
She expressed her negative feelings towards Oprah and spoke about how the situation between her and her ex-husband was mishandled. She said, “If she was a decent person, she would realize that what her dad did was very wrong instead of plotting against me and pushing me out of the scene.”
Winfrey, couldn’t even afford to hire a moving company, and used her friends and a loaned pick-up truck to help her move. The retired school principal told a source, “I have to be out by midnight. I will have everything out by midnight.”
Winfrey admitted to being hurt and confused by Oprah’s decision to evict her from the house. She said, “It doesn’t make sense when someone has so much money and so much power. It’s just hard?”
She told a source that she was looking forward to the next chapter in her life and ending her relationship with the wealthy talk show host. She said, “My next move will be to get a place where I call mine and I don’t have to worry about someone putting me out.”
Oprah is full of wisdom and is a very inspiring person in the industry. She usually promotes empowerment to other women, so it saddens me that she would evict someone from their home, no matter what their issue was. I also don’t think she should have involved herself in her father’s marital affairs to this extent.
Do you think Oprah was wrong to evict her stepmother from her home of 13 years or do you think her stepmother is playing the victim?
