Orange Is The New Black star Uzo Aduba’s career has continued to rise lately, she has won countless awards for her performance as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren, including an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series.
The actress is now using her success to give back to others. She is preparing to run the Boston Marathon on April 20th, in order to help raise money for Cancer Research. This will be the second time that Aduba runs a marathon to raise money for cancer research. When discussing the marathon, the actress said “When I ran New York, there were four people in my life — one had passed, and three were battling cancer. Now, today, there’s only one still fighting.”
Aduba joined the Dana Farber Cancer Institute’s marathon challenge and released a video on Tuesday to help spread the word about her cause and to encourage people to donate to as well. The actress was a sprinter in high school and college and practices for the marathon by running 5 miles a day and 10 to 18 miles on the weekends.
