The Sopranos creator David Chase revealed that a prequel to the series just might happen. He said he’s very interested in the idea and would enjoy ” exploring the era before the show began.”
“Even if I did it, it wouldn’t be The Sopranos that was on the air, obviously at least one person is gone that we would need.” He is referring to James Gandolfini, who passed away in 2013.
The prequel would be based on Tony’s father, uncle, and mother and focus around the’60s and early ’70s in Newark, NJ. Specifically the drug ring era and racial tension. He also mentioned the possibility of a movie. We can only hope that happens!
