As we all know, President Obama has a great sense of humor, which makes him pretty awesome in my book. Last night, Obama was a surprise guest on the TV show “Funny or Die-Between Two Ferns” hosted by comedian Zach Galifianakis. Obama participated in a roast, in which he attempted to connect with a younger audience regarding Obamacare.
Galifianakis and Obama squared off in a comedic debate. Galifianakis asked funny questions such as “Is it going to be hard in two years, when you’re no longer President and people will stop letting you win at basketball?” and “How does this work, do you send Ambassador Rodman to North Korea on your behalf? I read somewhere that you’d be sending Hulk Hogan to Syria or is that more of a job for Tonya Harding?”.
Obama, with perfect comedic timing did not stall under the pressure. He replied with his own witty jabs “a third term would sort of be like doing a third Hangover movie, it didn’t really work out very well did it?”
As the show came to a close, Obama made it a point to use the TV show to briefly discuss a serious matter at hand. He asked “I wouldn’t be with you here today if I didn’t have something to plug, have you heard of the Affordable Care Act?” Galifianakis hastily replied “That’s the thing that doesn’t work?”
Attempting to gain interest from the younger generation in politics is very difficult. Using comedy to educate and relate to the younger audience was a strategic move on Obama’s behalf. Watch the hilarious video here.
