Prince made everyone recognize gender fluidity before it was cool. He screamed and oozed out sexual undertones to his very core. That’s probably why his relationship history is filled with a gorgeous and vibrant group of ladies.

Prince was wed twice and had a son that died at one week old.

But, guess what? Almost, all of Prince’s ex lovers expressed their emotions towards the crooner in emotional social media posts.

Denise Matthews and Prince met at the American Music Awards. Prince changed her identity, as he believed that she was his female counterpart, and named her “Vanity.” Soon after, she became the lead singer of a girl group called Vanity 6, which Prince had created himself.

The two were together for two years and even appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in 1983.

Vanity went on to date different men from the music industry after including names like, Billy Idol and Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue before marrying football player Anthony Smith in 1995.

Vanity passed away due to renal failure in February 2016 and also happened to be 57-years-old, just like Prince.

When Vanity dropped out Prince’s 1984 film Purple Rain, Prince met his next leading lady. Mexican model, Patricia Apollonia Kotero took Vanity’s role and became known as Appollonia 6, which was always the name of her girl group.

Appollonia and Prince ended things in 1985. But, Appollonia still managed to date big names like, Lorenzo Lamas and singer David Lee Roth among others before marrying writer Kevin Bernhardt.

Susan Moonsie

Moonsie was a part of the girl group Vanity 6 and later joined the band Appollonia 6. There were controversial opinions if Prince wrote his song “When Doves Cry” about Moonsie.

Susanah Melovin

Melovin was Prince’s first serious relationship, when the two got engaged in 1985. She was a singer and songwriter. After her relationship with Prince ended, she continued to work with big names like Madonna and also dated John Cusack.

Prince had dedicated his grammy nominated song ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ to Melovin.

Sheila E

Sheila E was caught up in the mix of relationships the womanizer had in the 1980s. She was a singer and a drummer. The pair met in 1978, which lead to the two working and recording music together and various other projects, that eventually lead to Purple Rain.

Sheila E was very successful after dating Prince. She even let out her own single called ‘The Glamorous Life, which was released in 1984. The track earned the songstress a Grammy nomination in that same year.

After Prince’s death, Sheila tweeted, ‘My heart is broken. There are no words. I love you!’

Two music icons in one relationship. OMG.

The two briefly dated in 1985, which happened to  be the same time the two recorded a duet on the track ‘Love Song.’

Rumors arose, that Madonna left him for Sean Penn, who she married later that year.

On Thursday, Madonna posted a photo of the two both rocking yellow outfits captioned, ‘He changed the world!! A true visionary. What a loss. I’m devastated.’

Sherilyn Fenn

Twin Peaks actress, Sherilyn Fenn dated Prince briefly in the 80s.

They remained friends after their split.

After Prince died, Fenn had told ‘People’ magazine, “Prince inspired me. He changed my life. I will miss him greatly. There will only ever be one Prince.’

Kim Bassinger

The actress dated Prince in 1989, around the time Bassinger was in Batman. They ended up working on Prince’s sensual “The Scandalous Sex Suite” where Bassinger resumed her role as Vicki Vale in Batman.

Her contributions to the song were mostly moans and sultry words. There were rumors that the song was created while they two were having sex.

Seductive lyrics included, “‘2night why don’t we skip all the foreplay, mama / And just get down here on the floor?’

When asked about the relationship, Bassinger said, “‘It was a really special moment in time, and I have great memories. I don’t put a lot of restrictions on myself, let’s just put it that way. If there’s someone I connect with, we’ll go on these rides together. So that was a neat time in my life.’

Carmen Electra

Prince dated Electra in the 90’s, and there is some speculation that Prince had convinced her to create the stage name replacing her real name Tara Leigh Patrick.

Electra reminisced, “He said, “You’re not Tara, you’re Carmen”, and I said, “OK, I can get into this. What a blessing it is to be one of the chosen ones who had the chance to work so closely with him. He gave me my name, he believed in me and he has inspired an entire generation. I will always love him.”

Nona Gaye

Marvin Gaye’s daughter, Nona was 18 when she started dating Prince in the early 90s. They were together for three years. When the two broke things off, she told ‘People’ magazine that her heart was shattered. She said, “I just thought he was beautiful.”

Before breaking up, reportedly Prince had proposed to her.

Mayte Garcia

Prince and Mayte met in 1990, after her mother had sent Prince’s team a video of 16-year-old Garcia dancing.

After a couple months, she was invited to take part in the Diamonds And Pearls Tour. At 18, she became the muse behind Prince’s 1992 album whose title was an indecipherable symbol, which later became a symbol for love.

Prince also wrote the 1995 hit song  ‘The Most Beautiful Girl in the World’ about Garcia. Just a year later on Valentine’s Day, the two married. In October of the same year, the two gave birth to Prince’s only child named, Boy Gregory.

Boy Gregory was born with Pfeiffer syndrome, a rare disorder that does not allow the head to grow normally due to the premature fusion of certain bones of the skull.

He died just a week after his birth. The death took a giant toll on the two’s relationship and the two split two years after the tragedy. After the event, Prince became a Jehovah’s Witness.

Mayte went onward to date drummer for a good two years, Tommy Lee, but has reiterated multiple times that she will always love Prince.

Mayte is now a choreographer and an actress, most well known for her contribution to Britney Spears’ 2001 hit song ‘I’m A Slave 4 U,’ where Garcia choreographed Britney’s belly dancing.

Garcia publicly stated after his death, “I can’t even think of the words of what I’m feeling. This man was my everything, we had a family. I am beyond deeply saddened and devastated. I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He’s with our son now.”

Manuela Testolini

Prince’s next wife was Manuela Testolini marrying her in 2001. Prince had met Testolini, while she was working for his charitable organization.

Testolini avoided the limelight during her marriage to the icon, focusing on charitable expenditures and her production company Gamillah Inc.

She decided to leave the singer in 2006. Testolini went on to marry Halle Barry’s ex-husband Eric Benet, a year after the divorce.

After hearing about Prince’s death, Testolini has vowed to build a school in his honor, “My heart aches that the school will now be built in his memory. [It’s a] devastating feeling of pain and loss. Prince and I had a magical journey together, and I loved him immensely. I knew him as a husband, friend and fierce philanthropist. Philanthropy brought us together, and it was Prince that encouraged me to start my own charity over 10 years ago. The love we shared, the music he made, and our life together is forever engraved in my heart. I will always love and respect him. I am heartbroken beyond words.”

Bria Valente

Bria Valente, formerly Brenda Fuentes began a relationship with Prince a year after his marriage to Manuela Testolini.

But, while dating Prince, Valente decided to become a part of the Jehovah’s witness faith.
