I have never heard of Spike TV’s Guys Choice Awards, which aired on Saturday, but I appreciate the fact that Sandra Bullock was honored with the Decade of Hotness Award.
I have been a fan since I saw her in the action packed thriller, Speed, starring Keanu Reeves. I thought she stood out as a great actress, even way back then. She was believable, funny, quirky and yes…she had the hot factor.
Usually, men view women like Pamela Anderson, and other sexual looking females, as hot. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but when that’s all that is shown, it brings to mind a warped sense of what is beautiful. Bullock has a different kind of sex appeal. She has a unique sexiness that men aren’t intimidated by and women can still relate to. She uses her beauty to promote confidence and being comfortable in your own skin.
At the awards ceremony, Bullock’s male co-stars came forth to confirm her sexiness throughout the years. Hugh Grant talked about how she went from “sneaky hot” to just “hot.” Keanu Reeves made a lengthy speech, praising his Speed co-star, which Grant made fun of. Matthew McConaughey, whom she dated at one point, said that he always found Bullock’s collarbone sexy.
As the 49-year-old actress went on stage, she received an antler-horn trophy, a sash and a crown. She began her speech by making fun of herself and using her lively sense of humor, which she is known for.
She said, “I feel like I’m at my funeral. Decade of hotness…My question was what decade? I have several under my belt. It should really be decade of hot mess. That, I can own and I do that well and I’m still convinced I’m up here because someone dropped out and they needed someone quickly and we know I’m home on Saturdays.”
After thanking the Guys Choice Awards, she held up the horned trophy and said, “How many people hold this up and say, ‘I’m so horny!'” She also thanked her three male co-stars and before she left the stage she proclaimed, “I’m just one of the luckiest girls I know.”
Indeed she is.
