Kim Kardashian finally got what she’s always wanted: to be on the cover of Vogue magazine. For a while, there seemed to be a feud between Kim Kardashian and editor Anna Wintour. There were rumors that Anna did not want anything to do with the Kardashians and deemed them as being trashy by Vogue’s standards. Then, last year at the Met Gala, Kim and Kanye both showed up on the red carpet and were later photographed inside with Anna Wintour herself.
They got so friendly that Wintour decided to put the two of them on the cover of the April issue. Kim stands in front of Kanye with a wedding dress on looking straight at the camera. It’s a very beautiful shoot, but there is controversy that comes along with it. Some people think that she isn’t up to Vogue standards and are outraged that she and her (not so well-liked) fiancé, Kanye, are gracing this month’s cover.
Sarah Michelle Gellar is among them. She tweeted, “Well……I guess I’m canceling my Vogue subscription. Who is with me???” She wasn’t alone. Others wrote things like, “The day Vogue died,” and, “I will never buy another issue of Vogue. I rebuke it in the name of the Lord.” Harsh.
Others, like the famous James Franco/Seth Rogen duo have decided to mock it (in addition to the latest video they made spoofing Kanye’s video that featured Kim) and the controversy that accompanied it. Circulating is a photoshopped version with their faces on the bodies of Kim and Kayne. Another version with Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy are also going around.
What do you think of the cover? Are people right to be upset or are they being too elitist?
