Tennis pro Serena Williams proves just as much as a heroine on the court as she is off after she chases after a man who tried to steal her cell phone. It happened on Tuesday night when Williams was dining at a Chinese restaurant. The phone was on the seat next to her when this suspicious looking guy just snatched it.
Williams wrote in a Facebook post about it the next day:
“Soooooo yesterday at dinner the CRAZIEST THING happened to me. I was sitting enjoying some Chinese food… and this guy stands next to me.”
Williams remarks on how there was something about the man that “didn’t feel right” and that her “SUPERHERO sense” told her to keep an eye on him. Williams continues, “Then when least expected lo and behold this common petty thief grabbed my phone and swiftly left, I looked at the chair then shouted, ‘Omg that dude took my phone!!‘ I jumped up, weaved my way in and out of the cozy restaurant (leaping over a chair or two) and chased him down.”
My “sprints came in handy” Williams wrote. Overtaking the thief she asked, whether he had accidentally picked up the wrong phone, Williams wrote, her “superhero sidekick quailman” Facetimed at that exact moment making it impossible for the snatcher to say it was his phone.
When Williams, 34, returned to the restaurant she was given a standing ovation. Williams finishes her story stating, “I’ve got the speed the jumps, the power, the body, the seduction, the sex appeal, the strength, the leadership and yet the calm to weather the storm. Always listen to your superhero inner voice… Fight for what’s right… Be a superhero!”
Hell yes Serena what a victory and what a speech. Williams truly embodies all the qualities of a modern day female role model, what the heck a male role model too.
