Kanye West is no stranger to controversy, so I’m almost certain he’s laughing in a corner somewhere about this.
Shirley Manson, lead singer of alternative band Garbage, wasn’t impressed by his antics at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night (Feb. 8).
Singer/songwriter Beck won Album Of The Year for Morning Phase, and West rushed the stage, clearly intent on stealing the spotlight like he once did with Taylor Swift at the VMAs when she won an award over Beyonce. In the end, he decided against it, even though Beck (oddly enough) was encouraging him to do it.
Manson took to her Facebook page, claiming that West was “disrespecting artistry.” Read her full post below:
I mean, she does have a point…but I was entertained by the moment nonetheless.
West was, once again, disappointed by Beyonce’s loss, telling E!: “What happens is, when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration.”
Beck didn’t even appear offended. He told Us Weekly: “I still love him and think he’s genius. I aspire to do what he does.”
