Some have called it controversial and others have called it vain, but Demi Lovato calls it sexy and confident.
In a photo shoot with Vanity Fair, the 23-year-old pop-star stripped off her clothes, wiped off all of her makeup, and posed for a spread that came out BEAUTIFUL.
It was all Lovato’s idea, as she told photographer Patrick Ecclesine that she found something incredible about doing a completely raw, all natural, un-retouched photo shoot.
Preaching that “life is too short”, following the death of her great-grandfather, Lovato said that this is how she is embracing a brand new chapter in her life by “letting go, being authentic, saying I don’t give a f*ck, this is who I am. I want to show the side of me that’s real, that’s liberated, that’s free.”
In the behind the scenes video shoot above, Lovato also discusses her past struggles with eating disorders and “hating every single inch of [her] body” at one point. She describes the photo shoot as “empowering” and explains that “it shows other women that you can get to a place where you can overcome the obstacles of body image issues and you can feel comfortable and confident in yourself.”
Whatever the reason or purpose for it, Lovato looks stunning in the shoot and as she keeps on fighting the conventional standards for body images and whatever other demons she carries, THZ wishes for her continued success
