If you didn’t watch the whole pizza delivery thing at the Oscars, you’ve probably either seen the video or heard someone talk about it afterwards. I can honestly say it was the one of the funniest things I’ve seen recently. My favorite part was when Ellen said “And then I don’t have any money.”
You’re probably wondering who the pizza delivery guy is, right? Well, his name is Edgar Martirosyan, and he’s the owner of Big Mama’s and Papa’s Pizzeria in West Hollywood. He’s also probably the world’s most recognizable pizza delivery guy right now.
He said that he thought the pizza pies were for some writers at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, and when he arrived he was told to wait. The next thing you know, Ellen DeGeneres went backstage and asked him to follow her.
“It was a great moment,” he said.
I bet it was! Imagine watching movies with some of the actors/actresses that were nominated for an Oscar, and then getting the chance to stand like two feet away them at the Oscars. Martirosyan said Julia Roberts was the person he was most excited to see.
There were actually five drivers working Sunday night, but since business was “brisk” he had to pitch in, and lucky for him he got the Oscars gig.
According to one owner, business has increased at all 20 locations after the Oscars, and they didn’t think for one second that their pizzas were going to be on TV.
“We’re ordering supplies like mad, stocking up on cheese, pepperoni, sausage and boxes and shipping them out to the different stores,” Big Mama’s and Papa’s Pizzeria owner Ararat Agakhanyan told the Los Angeles Times.
Martirosyan appeared on Ellen’s show on Monday and received $1,000.
Rodney Bowes, a customer at Big Mama’s and Papa’s Pizzeria said that what happened at the Oscars couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
