USA! USA! USA! America celebrates its push through the next round of the World Cup despite our loss to Germany. The US progressed to the final 16 after losing one to zero to Germany in Recife, Brazil.
Tens of millions of nervous US fans breathed a sigh of relief after the US made it through to the last 16 of the World Cup.
Even though Thomas Mueller put the Germans ahead after a nerve – wracking first half, the result in the Portugal vs. Ghana game meant the US progressed on a goal difference.
With the US qualifying for the world knockout stages for a second time in history, this time the achievement was more impressive because the US was drawn into what’s called the group of death.
“It’s huge for us to reach the last-16. We wanted at least a tie out of the game and maybe at the beginning we had too much respect,” said a satisfied Jurgen Klinsmann.
