Wesley Snipes originally stared as Blade in 2004’s Blade: Trinity. The film was the first of the comic book movie franchise that has taken over theaters. Snipes has played the Marvel vampire hunter three times on the big screen, and he recently spoke out about going for round four.
The actor, who stars in the upcoming NBC series “The Player”, said that he has met with Marvel about potentially doing another film, although nothing is official yet.
“The project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things,” Snipe told Deadline in a recent interview. “I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point, that hasn’t been decided. I guess it’s still up in the air.”
It may be tricky to get a fourth film going. While Marvel Studios does own the character, they do not own the previous three Blade films. But there is still a strong possibility that it will work out.
The 52-year-old actor made it clear that he would very much love to work with Marvel, even if Blade doesn’t work out, “I’ve always been a fan of these pieces and adaptations and it’d be nice to be a part of the family again. But if we don’t do a Blade 4 or something else with Marvel, we’ll do something else. We have some other characters and some other concepts that are going to be just as exciting and hopefully just as successful.”
Hopefully we will get to see Snipes back in the comic book movie game! For now, you can look forward to seeing him on his upcoming show “The Player”, which is set to premiere in the Fall.
