On Saturday afternoon, Bruce Jenner was involved in a four-car pile-up that that killed one person and severely injured an infant and seven other passengers. The accident happened the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California, which is close to Jenners home.
The Olympic gold medalist and Keeping up with the Kardashians star was heading north in his black Cadillac Escalade when he struck the back of a Lexus sedan. That hit caused the Lexus to clip a Toyota Prius that than collided head first with a Hummer. Leaving the white Lexus mangled in the front and back, the Hummer sustained substantial engine damage while Jenners Escalade only received some front end damage.
The driver of the Lexus, a 50-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Five of the seven passengers were hospitalized, and the rest received moderate injuries.
Allegedly Jenner was driving to get away from paparazzi but Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Philip Brooks says “Being a celebrity, he is often followed by paparazzi. He was aware of that, and it doesn’t appear he took any evasive action to avoid the paparazzi.”
Jenner was placed in an ambulance at the scene, but there were no visible injuries. Jenner was cooperative with investigators; he took a sobriety test and gave blood samples for analysis. Sgt. Brooks also stated “He did not appear intoxicated or under the influence of anything at the time..”
Jenner’s publicist, Alan Nierob said Jenner wasn’t hurt, but he offered no additional details. Jenner as not yet released a public statement or any more information about the accident to the public.
