Hold onto your hats, comedy fans. Earlier this week, the action figure and collectible company Bif Bang Pow! announced that they would release action figures of comedians (and best friends) Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The action figures will be dressed like Fey and Poehler when they did “Weekend Update” together on Saturday Night Live. It was also announced that the company will start selling the action figures at their book at the renowned San Diego Comic Con this July. How exciting!
The decision to create action figures of Fey and Poehler is a step in the right direction for feminism. First of all, they are action figures, not dolls, emphasizing the fact that action figures aren’t just for Superman and Batman. Second, Fey and Poehler are, for the most part, very relatable for women everywhere. They aren’t perfect Barbie dolls, and they aren’t big-time action heroes, like Wonder Woman or Black Widow. They’re two, witty, intelligent, and beautiful women that women can realistically be more like. Who better to have action figures than Fey and Poehler?
We’re excited for these action figures to finally hit the market!
