Of all the different ways athletes get injuries, whether it be in training camp preparing for the season, practices where guys are fighting for the starting spot, or during the season when they are battling for the championship, Steve Nash took it to another level.
Entering his final season of his career, Nash was ready to make one final push and make his contribution to the Los Angeles Lakers. Playing only 15 games last season due to injury, Nash was determined to end his career on his positive note.
Via ESPN Insider Kevin Pelton, Nash injured his back carrying bags Wednesday and is unlikely to play in the preseason game on Thursday vs. Utah.
Piece of advice to Nash: Next time you need to bend over to pick something up, let one of the rookies like Julius Randle handle it. That’s what they’re there for.
We have all been blessed to witness Nash in his prime and all that he is capable of, so hopefully we get to see some glimpses of it this year as he puts the finishing touches on his Hall of Fame career.
