Sebago Docksides has been established since 1946, and yesterday they celebrated Sebago’s 70th anniversary definitely in style for the summer of 2016 with a Pop-Up Store, very convenient in NYC and featuring new exclusives to the “Docksides” “Penny Loafers” and celebrating the heritage of Sebago with the “Liberty Arts Fabric Collection” now until the end of August. So exclusive that this happens to be the only Wolverine store in the world, parent company to Sebago and located here in Manhattan. This allows fans of the brand to shop all the exclusives at the Pop-Up store that may not be featured online.
Yesterday afternoon I traveled to New York City in the NoLiTa district of Manhattan New York (always an adventure) to witness for myself what the rave over Sebago Docksides was about. There on Elizabeth street I was greeted by a gourmet mobile ice cream truck labeled CoolHaus where they make architecturally inspired ice cream sandwiches, I was sold. They were a proud sponsor at the Sebago Anniversary Pop-Up Store along with Sebago Brewing Co., offering thirst quenching beer tastings, I tried the “Simmer Down” (yum yum) and GreenPoint Fish & Lobster Co. showed us how to shuck oysters.
The real treat once I made all the pit stops was the visual fashion show that Sebago took my mind on. From the ties, handbags and satchels to the bottom downs boots penny loafers and Docksides all in different colors was almost like a mini outlet. Featuring exclusives from Spring and Summer line 2016 as well as from this years up and coming Fashion Week 2016. The motto “For a Life Well Crafted” is catchy but makes sense. The clothes are definitely well crafted with quality denim and leather materials. My favorite were the smoked gray satchels, the mens leather brown and blue leather boot.
Yes, I love men’s fashion and of course the teal green Docksides. Entering I didn’t know I got a complimentary pair but on the back of my “Camp Sebago” badge there it was, so I ordered the Meriden Tie shoe priced at $110.00. (I cant wait to see them) With HRH Kate Middleton wearing these well crafted loafers I was lucky to grab an exclusive pair thanks to the Pop-Up Store. I will have to revisit NY shortly for that suede Satchel. The hand-sewn quality of the penny loafer and Dockside makes these pieces classic and showing their New England heritage in the fashion details.
On top of the staff of Sebago being great with the customer service and any questions we had to ask Julien, the Assistant Manager of the Wolverine Company Store said “This is the only store in the world and Wolverine has been around since 1883, but they have been celebrating there anniversary of Sebago there last 3 year.” The Pop-Up store is a burst of fashion energy and perfect addition for the “North of Little Italy” district of New York and is sure to create some buzz in the fashion world this summer. While this brand is co-ed stylish for both male and females I think literally anyone can find something about the Wolverine© Sebago brand to love.
