Sales at McDonald’s restaurants are decreasing and the fast food chain is trying to change that. The chain revealed that they are coming out with a bigger quarter-pounder patty that will weigh 4.25 ounces pre-cooked, and will have a new shape. McDonald’s current quarter-pounder is 4 ounces before cooking. The current patty weighs in at 4 ounces before being cooked, and then shrinks to 2.8 ounces when its cooked, the fast food chain claims. The new patties will debut around next month, according to one of their director of operations.
“As CEO, we’re always innovating around McDonald’s food, drinks and restaurant experience based on customers’ preferences, and that includes hotter food and reviewing cooking procedures, and we’ll share more details soon,” CEO Steve Easterbrook stated. The changes “improves the taste, texture and appearance of the burgers” since the “patties retain more moisture resulting in a juicier and more flavorful burger.” Hopefully McDonald’s sales can increase.
