It has been confirmed that former pro wrestler Buddy Landel, also known as “Nature Boy,” died on Monday. The 53-year-old was well known for his involvement in the famous pro wrestling group NWA, but his career was shortly lived after he became addicted to cocaine and other drugs. Landel died in his Virginia home while asleep, which was the day after he was involved in a car crash. The cause of death isn’t fully determined.
Landel was known for his heavy drug use in his youth, but in later and recent years, he had cleaned up his act and was trying to give inspiration to younger pro wrestlers. Hall of fame pro wrestler Dusty Rhodes, also known as the American Dream, also died recently on June 11, in Florida.
The WWE organization expressed their condolences for Landel’s death stating, “WWE extends its condolences to Landel’s family, friends and fans.”
