Nineteen inmates were injured when the roof of a private prison collapsed near Lufkin, Texas. The Management & Training Corporation operates the prison, and released a statement after the incident.

“We are still trying to determine the cause of the collapse.”

The fire official on the scene is unsure of what may have caused the collapse. They believe the heavy rainfall in the area may have contributed to the incident.

“It probably had a lot to do with the rain over the last couple days.” David Driskell, the prison’s warden said.

Ten prisoners were taken to the hospital by ambulance, and nine were transported as “walking wounded”.
