Imagine if you can boarding a plane knowing you have a 13-hour flight ahead of you. Like many in that situation you are a little nervous about flying so you maybe take an anti-anxiety pill to calm your nerves, only to wake up and find you have been sexually assaulted. Well that really happened to one victim.
A female passenger flying on an Emirates plane from Dubai to New York awoke a few hours into her flight to find her arms, legs and upper chest slathered in lotion. The victim went to the bathroom and discovered her underwear was moved and had lotion on them. The victim also discovered that her vaginal area was sore and covered in lotion.
The victim returned to her seat and realized that the lotion she had placed in the seat pocket in front of her was missing. When she asked Nadeem Mehmood Quraishi, 42, a Subway sandwich manager in Staten Island who was sitting next to her where the lotion was he handed it to her and that’s when she alerted the cabin crew.
The cabin crew said they saw the victim shaking and crying in the galley and knew something had happened to her while she was sleeping.
The victim recalls Quraishi asking her when she woke up, ‘weather she had a good nap.’
When Quraishi was later questioned about the assault by cabin crew he told them, ‘’that she needed it and enjoyed it because she did not resist,” the Daily Mail reports.
Court documents reveal that when questioned by the cabin crew he admitted to rubbing lotion on the victim’s body as well as her vagina. It was also revealed in a police report that Quraishi said, ‘he liked it and that it happened to him as a child. ‘
Quraishi was arrested and charged on Monday with sexual contact without consent. A bond was set at $50,000. He was allegedly asked to surrender his passport and not to leave New York. It is believed the defendant was told to have no contact with the client and to ‘seek and maintain employment as possible. ‘
