According to reports from a variety of Australian news sources there are allegedly millions of spiders that have begun to drop onto a town about 125 miles from Sydney. One town resident even reported that “you can clearly see hundreds of little spiders floating along with their webs and my home is covered in them.”
Experts say that this is due to a phenomena called ballooning which occurs after a female spider lays her eggs and the baby spiders hatch. They release webs and a strong updraft will carry them away to another place. Some spiders can lay over a thousand eggs. Though this phenomenon is normal this occurrence is on a much larger scale and could be the result of multiple spiders laying eggs at once.
Experts also state that aside from their property being covered in webs, residents of the town do not have to worry about spider bites as usually only adult spiders can break skin.
