Brazil has made a longer list of current and new holidays for its World Cup fans. Brazil is known for its number of holidays and also the amount of time that business’s have off.
Brazil has nine national holidays each year. However, Brazil also has seven optional holidays that are granted by certain businesses.
Some of those apply to certain professions, such as Teachers’ Day, Commerce Day and Civil Servants’ Day in October.
There are also state and municipal holidays. In Rio de Janeiro, the citizens are very laid back and mellow. There are three local holidays: Saint Sebastian Day, Saint George Day and Black Consciousness Day.
Other holidays that are remembered and celebrated are the founding of towns, colonial massacres and a conflict known as the Ragamuffin War.
