College tuition has been on the rise for several years. Now, more than 50 American Colleges and Universities are charging more than $60,000 per year. What!! How can this be?

These numbers are calculated by averaging the cost of tuition, fees, room, and board that an incoming student would pay over the 2014 – 2015 academic year.

For more college students, it is often a few thousand dollars cheaper to live in an off campus apartment than in the college dorms.

We cannot forget the large financial worry of higher education. Students are also responsible for paying for textbooks, travel costs, and any social expenses too. These costs often add up to an extra $2,000 or more.

The most expensive school in the country for the upcoming school year is Harvey Mudd College, charging $48,694 –  $64,527 in tuition and fees, and $15,833 for room and board.
