If you’ve ever wanted handbags that looked like they dropped out of a cartoon, you’re in luck! When I first saw photos of them on the website I thought, “Are these for real?” The more I stared at them I saw they were in fact 100 percent real.
These cartoon-inspired bags were created by Taipei-based design duo, Rika Lin and Chay Su, and they are “designed to look like bold, colorful 2D drawings that have come to life.”
How exactly did the cool idea come to the two designers? Well, it came to them one afternoon when they were sketching their dream designer bag.
They thought it would be so amazing if a two-dimensional hand-drawn illustration could come to life as a real bag, so they explored the possibilities. Eventually the brand “Jump From Paper” was born.
“We love to confuse people, but more so, we love to see them burst out into laughter once they realize they are real bags,” said Chay and Rika.
The two girls say they are “addicted to collecting funny and weird stuff” and get their inspiration for their designs from things in their daily life. They said “they’re driven by a passion to create laughter and to encourage people to let their imaginations go wild.”
The brand had a small run in 2010, and is now in more than 25 countries around the world.
The designs include shoulder bags, handbags, cross body bags, purses, backpacks, and laptop and ipad bags.
