Famous fashion designer Arnold Scaasi died Tuesday in New York. Scaasi died at the age of 85, from cardiac arrest in New York Presbyterian Hospital. The designer was well known for his work with people involved in presidency. In 1960, he designed a gown for the first lady, who was Mamie Eisenhower, then his career skyrocketed after that. He designed an outfit for Jackie Kennedy, who was the wife of former president John F. Kennedy.
Scaasi was also known to be one of Barbara Bush’s favorites designers, as well as her daughter-in-law Laura. He also designed a gown for Hillary Clinton. The legendary designer didn’t just work with people that were in the white house, he also worked with famous celebrities like Joan Crawford, Lauren Bacall and Elizabeth Taylor. Scaasi was originally from Montreal, Canada but later moved to New York, which is where he lived and worked for over 50 years. Hopefully someone can continue his work.
