A Hawaiian high school teacher named Nancy Bollo, 39, is known as the “hottest teacher” on the Big Island by her students. On Wednesday, she was placed on administrative leave after allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old male student. Ballo, who is a science teacher, might avoid facing criminal charges because the state’s age of consent is 16.
The rumors of Ballo and the 17-year old’s relationship began to spread throughout the school when numerous students shared stories of an alleged sexual encounter between the two, in a back storage room connected to her classroom, and even at her home.
“I don’t know how many times they did it, or how many other students she may have done it with before. It doesn’t set a very good role model for the students” said sophomore Daynia Au.
The state Department of Education has launched an investigation on Ballo, who graduated from Waiakea in 1993 and has been teaching there for 11 years. The principal, Kelcy Koga, stated “We haven’t fired anybody. There have been allegations, none of which I can really get into, I’m not able to release what the allegations are. Like any other teacher being investigated, they all have to go through a similar process for conduct, regardless of whether it’s sexual relations with a student, or finances have gone missing, or whatever it is.”
A letter was sent to parents, informing them about the investigation, but officials have refused to confirm Ballo is the teacher named. A reliable, anonymous source told the Hawaii Tribune that she is the teacher and students have been told she has been placed on leave.
Ballo has received rave reviews on the popular website ratemyteachers.com. It’s a site where students are able to freely tell others how they feel about their teachers.
She got an average score of 78%. Majority of the statements revolved around her appearance and said they would love to have her as their teacher (for obvious reasons). One student wrote ” I took this class solely because I heard it was easy as hell, not to mention she is the only hot teacher on the Big Island and she was enjoyable to look at when class was boring.”
