In Columbus, Georgia, a woman named Nicole Elliot has decided to change a life. Elliot adopted 13-year-old Chester, a dog that was on death row at the Columbus pound before being saved by Animal Ark Rescue.

Chester has been diagnosed with very aggressive cancer and heart worm, so Elliot knew that if she adopted him, she wouldn’t have much time before he passed away.

However, that didn’t stop Elliot. In fact, she didn’t just take Chester in, she also vowed to make his last days his best days. She told WTVM-TV that she wanted to give Chester, “an awesome final ride.”

Elliot created a bucket list for Chester, and she has been posting about their adventures on Facebook and Instagram. The Facebook page, titled “Chester’s Final Journey” has over 10,000 likes, and that number only continues to grow.

News sources around the country (and the world) have featured Chester on their programs, and Elliot is using that publicity to encourage others to adopt.

She began an online fundraiser to create a hospice program for terminally ill dogs like Chester, and she regularly posts pictures on Facebook of other dogs that need to be taken in.

If you have any suggestions for Chester’s bucket list, or want to donate to Elliot’s hospice program fundraiser, check out her Facebook page at “Chester’s Final Journey.”
