The mother of protester, Heather Heyer, lashed out at President Donald Trump during an interview with Good Morning America on Friday.
Heyer died during the Charlottesville protests. Her mother, Susan Bro spoke to Robin Roberts stating that she had not spoken to Trump yet and doesn’t plan to.
This comes after the comments Trump made during his press conference on Tuesday in which he blamed “both sides” for the violence – even though one side was made up of white supremacists.
“You can’t wash this one away by shaking my hand and saying I’m sorry. I’m not forgiving for that,” Bro said.
During her daughter’s memorial was when the president first tried to contact her, stated Bro.
“At first, I just missed the calls. The first call looked like it actually came during the funeral. I didn’t even see that message,” she said. “There were three more frantic messages from press secretaries throughout the day and I didn’t know why.”
“That would have been on Wednesday and I was home recovering from the exhaustion of the funeral,” added Bro.
“And then I had more meetings ton establish her foundation so I hadn’t really watched the news until last night, and I’m not talking to the president now.”
She’s not going to speak to him, “not after what he said about my child”.
Trump’s first statement came after Heyer’s death on Saturday, and then he mentioned her during his press conference on Tuesday.
“I saw an actual clip of him at the press conference equating the protesters like Ms. Heyer with the KKK and white supremacists,” said Bro.
