A man in Philadelphia is accused of stealing at least $350,000 worth of human skin from a hospital. You don’t see this type of thing everyday, in fact, I’ve never heard of it.
Gary Dudek from Pennsylvania was charged with theft and tampering with records. According to investigators, Dudek repeatedly stole skin grafts from Mercy Philadelphia Hospital.
Dudek worked as a sales representative for Organogenisis between 2006 and 2013. Police say he was in charge of managing accounts for Mercy Hospital’s bio-science department and that he also supplied the hospital with skin grafts.
His position gave him access to an “open purchase order” which allowed him to order the skin grafts. But police say Dudek made several unauthorized purchases. Mercy Hospital never received the grafts, which lead to the hospital losing $357,000.
