Where marijuana is concerned, there seems to be an endless effort to find the positive medicinal effects of using the drug we all know that just gets recreational users high. The latest research shows how cannabis can reduce the symptoms of dysfunctional bladders.
Cannabigerol, also known as CBG, which is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, or in other words part of the cannabis genus that will not elevate your mood, was used in the testing of mouse bladders and human bladders. The findings were that CBG reduced the amount of contractions in the bladder significantly, more so than any other cannabinoids.
However, in previous research of similar intentions, tests on patients with multiple sclerosis and Neurogenic Detrusor Overactivity, which is another bladder dysfunction, studies found that it was the psychoactive THC, yes the one that gets you high, that improved function within the bladder by 25%.
Now if you’re reading this and you feel like you’re one of these people who need to use the bathroom a lot, please don’t go out and smoke some marijuana with your friends thinking this is going to solve your problem, unless you do that already. The reason for testing with CBG is for the purpose that the high does not affect you, and for this reason more studies involving CBG are being used.
If the drug being used to treat these disorders is not mind altering, who knows what advancements will be made in the near future and will be made more available to patients on a more regular basis. The world of science and medicine is outstanding with new discoveries being made everyday, but in the meantime if you have to urinate a lot, you’re just gonna have to make sure you’re by a restroom often enough.
