North Korea Launches Two Missiles

North Korea defied the UN once more early Wednesday morning when it fired two missiles which have the potential to carry nuclear warheads. One missile exploded immediately after launch; another traveled over 600 miles and landed in Japanese waters.

Under Kim Jong Un, missile launches from North Korea have significantly increased. With US, UN and South Korean attempts to truncate the North’s nuclear development, the missile launches are clear statements of aggression.

Last week, North Korea called the US placing Kim Jong Un on a list of sanctioned individuals as a “declaration of war.” This sparked social media rumors that North Korea had openly declared war on the US. With their reckless missile launching action, they may not be very far from doing so. Understandably, the latest launches are only encouraging the greater global community to come down harder on North Korea’s prohibited actions.
