Now that marijuana is legal in Washington and Colorado, there have been many incidents of reckless errors while ‘high’ and discrimination issues for having a Washington license plate and a Colorado license or vice versa. But it doesn’t just end there.
Car rental agencies out at DIA are finding wads of pot left over in their cars after they are returned. Rental car workers at Denver International Airport say pot tourists are returning cars with marijuana because they don’t want to bring it through DIA.
“It happens quite often,” a rental car employee at a national chain told a CBS4 employee. “Every couple of days. I just throw it in the trash.”
The car agencies have become a dumping ground for marijuana because most Colorado pot tourists don’t want to be interrogated for it in the airport.
While small amounts of marijuana are legal in Colorado, conspicuous signs warn travelers it’s unlawful to move pot through DIA.
