Rachel Dolezal just cannot get enough publicity for one week!
The former president of the NAACP Spokane chapter explained how she reacted to Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair article. Dolezal says she “cried” after reading it because she related to “being misunderstood.”
“Just yesterday I finally had a chance to read Caitlyn Jenner’s piece in the magazine and I cried,” Dolezal shared.
“I cried because I resonated with some of the themes of isolation, of being misunderstood. To not know if you have a conversation with somebody will that relationship then end because they have seen you as one way?”
On top of this, Dolezal also revealed that she is bisexual. And in relation to her furor with the NAACP, Dolezal said that there’s “no biological proof” that her white parents are, in fact, her mother and father.
“I know who raised me,” she said. “I haven’t had a DNA test. There’s been no biological proof that Larry and Ruthanne are my biological parents. I’m not necessarily saying that I can prove they’re not,” she added, “but I don’t know that I can actually prove they are. I mean the birth certificate was issued a month and a half after I’m born. Certainly there were no medical witnesses to my birth. It was in the woods.”
She continued, “There have been moments of some level of creative nonfiction where I’ve had to kind of explain or justify some of the timelines and logistics of my life in a way that made sense to others.”
