Jacob Lescenski’s prom proposal went viral a few days ago. When the Las Vegas high school junior learned that his best friend Anthony Martinez needed a date to the prom, he thought up a great idea to help his friend.
The two friends posted an image of the two standing next to a banner on Instagram, the banner reads “You’re hella gay, I’m hella str8, but you’re like my brother, so be my d8?” The banner was carried by three people dressed in red. Martinez later wrote “He’s 100 percent straight, I promise, but he’s a real man cause he has the guts to fulfill his best friend’s dream and take him to a dance, I couldn’t ask for a better friend.” And Lescenski wrote “Couldn’t go to prom with anyone better than this amazing guy who I can call my brother, Thank you for being you, I love you man.”
Once the images and news of the proposal went viral, support immediately began to pour in through social media. The two later posted a thank you video on Instagram, thanking all of their supporters. In a later interview, Lescenski said that while he was nervous about being judged over his proposal, “If it made Anthony happy and fulfilled his dream of going to prom with a guy and had a date to prom myself, nothing else mattered.”
