Were you ever given a project to present in school and limited to only 5 minutes? But the topic was something you were passionate about, and you had to start cutting stuff out? This scenario is a little different, and at the same time, very much the same.
Junior Seau was known as one of the greatest linebackers in the NFL. In his 20 year career, he played 13 years for the Chargers, 4 for the Patriots, and 3 for the Dolphins. For those of you who may not know, Seau died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 2012. To us, he was a great linebacker, to his daughter, Sydney, he was a singer, a ukulele player, and someone she wishes could call her by her middle name again.
During last night’s Hall of Fame induction ceremony, she was told by the Hall that her comments would be limited to a five-minute video clip. She had planned maybe a ten-minute speech, and I’m sure she could have gone on for longer. How do you even put a limit on that?
Luckily, hotel rooms don’t put restrictions on speeches, so Sydney sat in her hotel room, and recorded herself expressing her feelings to the fullest. She shares the pleasure of knowing him not only for his athleticism, but rather his heart.
Definitely a video to watch. Get your tissues ready.
