It goes zero to 100, real quick! Okay, maybe not all the way to 100, but the Tesla Model S can reportedly launch from zero to 60 miles in just 2.8 seconds, thanks to the $10,000 upgrade known as the Ludicrous high-performance option that was announced earlier this week.
But don’t get too, too excited about the update just yet because like most models unveiled in the tech world, it’s just that. A model, and testing hasn’t even begun yet, but I guess Tesla is excited to get this step-above their Insane model on the market.
However, when testing is complete and estimations for actual performance can be confirmed, the sedan will also be able to run through a quarter mile in 10.9 seconds and these updates will make the Tesla S one of the quickest cars in the world.
CEO Elon Musk also revealed that the new Ludicrous mode will not just be available to the Tesla S, but the Tesla X SUV as well, but this model will be just a tad slower, transitioning from zero to 60 mph in about 3.3 seconds, which is still monstrous for an SUV. Though, the Tesla X, which has been promised by CEO Elon Musk for sometime now almost seems like a myth due to all the hype and delayed release.
However, Musk says that the Tesla X, which is also rumored to have a bigger battery along with the Ludicrous option, is on track and should be released sometime in 2016.
