38–year-old Victoria Lane died from excessive amounts of caffeine and the anti depressant, fluoxetine. The coroner ruled it was the caffeine in the Pepsi Max combined with the fluoxetine, which was prescribed to Lane to help deal with her mental health issues, that killed her.
It’s reported the mother drank up to eight liters of Pepsi Max everyday, which eventually contributed to her death. Lane was sadly found by her 19-year-old son who called the paramedics but when they arrived they were unable to resuscitate her.
Lane had allegedly struggled with depression and anxiety after a serious car accident when she was 16 and for years drank heavily and took prescription drugs to cope with that. Lane used Pepsi Max to mix with vodka drinks as well as drink the soda by itself as she also believed the soda helped her deal with dry mouth one of the side affects she felt from her prescribed drugs.
It is believed Lane consumed up to four bottles of the soda everyday, her death has been ruled as accidental.
