You may have noticed some strange boards on the streets. They kind of look like a cross between Marty McFly’s hoverboard and half a Segway.
Anyway, the hands-free Segway will be branching out to Walmarts 4,500 locations across the US. Even though they will not be in their retail stores, the super chain will be selling them online as soon as November 1 – in time for the holiday season.
Currently, the ‘hoverboards’ are on sale at Amazon for $300-500.
Wiz Khalifa recently made headlines by riding one before getting arrested outside LAX. Here it is in action.
Do you think the hoverboard craze is here to stay? Walmart seems pretty confident that it is.
“We’ve bought deep in this item because our buyers expect it to be a hot holiday gift, possibly as hot as the Razor Scooter since it skews more towards adults,” said Jaeme Laczkowski, a spokeswoman for Walmart.com
Will you be buying one this year?
