What a beautiful story! A woman who had been abandoned as a baby in a Burger King bathroom says that she found her birth mom just three weeks after launching a search for her.
Katheryn Deprill, 27, said that she had experienced “pure joy” when she saw her biological mom for the first time on Monday in an attorney’s office.
“She is better than anything I could’ve ever imagined. She is so sweet and amazing. I’m so happy,” said Deprill.
Deprill started her quest on March 2 by posting a photo on her Facebook page of her holding a sign that said, “Looking for my birth mother … She abandoned me in the Burger King bathroom only hours old, Allentown PA. Please help me find her by sharing my post.”
The photo was then shared more than 30,000 times by people from around the world on Facebook, and her story landed in a lot of media outlets. Not only that, but it also caught the attention of the woman who claimed to have abandoned her. She came forward to attorney John Waldron, and he arranged for a meeting between them.
Deprill, who is a married mom of three, states that she has a really strong resemblance to her birth mom, and it was like she “was looking in a mirror.” She was so happy when her birth mom hugged her.
“I got the hug that I had wanted for the last 27 years, and that broke the ice. I asked if I could have it, and she said ‘absolutely,’ and just held her arms open, and the rest is history.”
The pair met for approximately four hours, and they exchanged contact info. Deprill said they are “definitely going to have a relationship” going forward.
Waldron told The Morning Call that the birth mom said that as a teen she was raped while traveling abroad, and became pregnant. She hid her pregnancy from her mom and dad, and after she gave birth she felt that she couldn’t take her baby to the hospital.
Waldron also said that the birth mom had also recently launched her own search for the baby that she had given up.
Deprill has forgiven her “110 percent.”
