Finally, there seems to be a noble cause out there to help women escape bad relationships.
Getting up and leaving your partner is hard enough, thankfully Aaron and Evan Steed of Meathead Movers have decided that their moving company will help any woman in need – totally free of charge.
The movers started their company when they were in high school. To make a bit of money on the side, all they did was charge $20 and pizza for their services. However, when more and more women called in desperate, they decided it was time to act.
In 2000, and after a violent incident, Evan and Aaron decided to partner with a local woman’s shelter to ensure extra security during the moves.
Since that time 15 years ago, they are now expanding and trying to make sure other businesses do the same.
The company is now launching a new campaign that asks people to “get creative” and help victims of domestic violence. With the hashtag #MoveToEndDV, the Meathead Movers hope to inspire others to rethink how they can work with shelters and rebuild the lives of those affected by domestic abuse.
If you, or anyone you know, is a victim of domestic abuse, please call the NationalDomestic Hotline Service on 1-800-799-7233.
