The thrilling saga of “whose skyscraper is biggest” continues. Move over Dubai, Saudi Arabia will be taking that title.

The construction for their building will start next week and they have plans to make it the tallest building in the world. Formerly, that title belonged to the country of Dubai and their Burj Khalifa tower which started in 2004. It’s been ten years and maybe to hand the title to someone else.

The Burj Khalifa is 2,717 feet in the air. The new building, the Kingdom Tower, is planned to be 3,280.  The tower will be about 200 floors high and 5.7 million square feet of concrete. It will take 80,000 tonnes of steel to build and will cost roughly $1.23 billion dollars to complete.

What do you think about the new building? Will it be cool or is it just wasteful?
