Top Five MVP Contenders In The National League

The dog days of summer is upon us as we look to October. There has been many great memories and plays in baseball this season. As we wind down towards the end of the regular season, the MVP race is just heating up. Here are the Top Five MVP Contenders for the National League:

1. Clayton Kershaw- Los Angeles Dodgers-  Kershaw is writing history in every start he makes. He is 16-3 with a mind-boggling 1.73 ERA. He is the frontrunner for the MVP award.

2. Giancarlo Stanton-Miami Marlins- Everytime he hits a home run, it always seems like a moonshot. Stanton, who is batting .294 with 33 Home Runs and 97 RBI’s, has been the offense for this Miami Marlins team that is on the rise.

3. Andrew McCutchen- Pittsburgh Pirates- Last year’s MVP is having another great year despite spending time on the disabled list. He is batting .307 with 20 Home Runs and and 71 RBI’s. He can possibly repeat.

4. Johnathan Lucroy- Milwaukee Brewers- The most interesting and unlikely player on this list. Lucroy is batting .299 with 13 Home Runs and 60 RBI’s along with 44 doubles. He is known for throwing out runners 25.3% of the time. He also is leading the Brewers to first place in the Central.

5. Yasiel Puig- Los Angeles Dodgers- He could take it.
