Did you see that insane viral video that shows viewers how to turn their smartphones into hologram projectors?

The video’s impact was seen all over the web and ‘Smartphone hologram’ was trending all day on Wednesday. Check it out:

Cool, right?

It really made us think about how far technology has advanced over the past few years. In 2015 alone, we’ve seen some inventions that used to only exist in sci-fi films!

There have been technological improvements for computers, medicine, and even for fashion, and we are equally impressed by all of them! The future has arrived, people!

As you can imagine, we struggled to narrow down the list of incredible technology from this year and pick favorites, but here is what we came up with! So, check out the five pieces of modern technology that blew our minds in 2015.

1. Self-Driving Car

At CES 2015 in Las Vegas, automakers including Audi, Ford, Mercedes-Benz and BMW all made announcements about self-driving cars. Plus, Google’s self-driving cars have driven over 1 million miles as of June 2015.

For those who don’t know, CES is one of the biggest technology shows in the world, where companies give consumers an inside look at the hottest and most modern advancements in all major fields. So, after CES 2015, we learned that self-driving cars might become mainstream within two to five years! What?!

2. The Bionic Arm

Prosthetic limbs have been used for quite some time now, but at this point, we have progressed to cybernetic implants that can translate a patient’s brainwaves into movements!

Plus, price has declined significantly for these new kinds of limbs because of 3D printing, meaning that more people can have experiences like this (hold on to your heart, this is about to get ‘aw’-worthy):

3. The Virtual Dressing Room

This one may not seem as significant as a bionic arm, or as complex as a self-driving car, but when we saw it, it still blew our minds. We first discovered it at CES 2015 and then we saw similar technology on Stacy London’s TLC makeover show, Love, Lust or Run.

The virtual dressing room by Toshiba can show customers a mirror image of themselves and then use sensor technology to let them virtually try on different articles of clothing. It’s a step up from previous virtual dressing rooms that only let you use an avatar with your body type; this uses your actual body!

Panasonic is following this pathway as well, with a virtual mirror that allows consumers to test out various makeup products. No more buying foundation that you’ll only throw out because it doesn’t match your skin tone? Yes, please!

4. The Lexus Hoverboard

This one is not practical at all, but, come on, it’s a hoverboard. No explanation is even necessary!

Using a superconductor and a magnetic field, Lexus made “the impossible, possible” just like their slogan promised. Our minds were blown!

5. Microsoft Cortana

The release of Windows 10 this summer was a really big deal, and one of our favorite features of the new operating system was Cortana. Cortana is a virtual personal assistant, a bit like Apple’s Siri, but even more developed.

You could say “Hey, Cortana,” from across the room, she will still recognize your voice, activate, set reminders, answer questions, or, if you need to make a really tough decision, flip a coin. Amazing.
