Just hours after dawning pinstripes making his Yankee debut, Yankees newcomer Chase Headley, played hero with a walk off single in the Yankees 2-1 14th inning victory over the Texas Rangers.
No sweat right?
Acquired earlier yesterday afternoon from the San Diego Padres, the 8 year MLB veteran is batting .230 with 7 home runs and 33 RBI this season. However, in 15 games this month he’s batting .323 with six extra-base hits. The Yankees are hoping they’ll be able to catch lightning in a bottle with Headley heating up at the right time.
With just 63 games remaining and 4 games back in the standings, Headley would seemingly play an integral part in the Yankees playoff push.
Welcome to the Big Apple Chase!
