Peaches Geldof’s death was a shock to the world; it reminded everyone of her mother’s tragic death years earlier. Now a month after her death, Courtney Love is coming forward and revealing some heartbreaking information.
Love, 49, revealed that Geldof came to visit her in her room at the hotel Chateau Marmont with an unknown friend who had a bag full of prescription drugs including the opiate-based Oxycontin, known as “hillbilly heroin.”
Love told Grazia magazine in an interview published yesterday, “My drug was heroin, I stopped taking it in the Nineties, but I have taken the pills, the Roxycontin, Oxycontin. Peaches was, unfortunately, in my room with a friend who had a bag full of these drugs…like 500 pills and I wanted it so badly, never have I wanted anything more; no man, no money, and I had to physically push Peaches and her friend out the door.”
Hours before her death, Geldof posted a photo online of herself with mom Paula Yates, who died of an accidental heroin overdose at age 41 when Geldof was just 11.
In the same interview, Love said: “I was shaking, and I kept thinking of the way her mother died and I thought I owe it to this girl to be an example. I was trying to help her; I was trying to mentor her, but at that point in her life, it proved to be impossible. Now the parallels to her Mommy are horrific. It terrifies me for my own child.”
Police are currently looking for the drug dealer that supplied the fatal dose to Geldof. Love is currently at the end of her UK tour.
