Well, the results are in folks! As the top three contestants on this season’s Dancing With the Stars competed for that first-place title, Rumer Willis and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy took it all in the end.
The results were by no means predictable as both Willis and her fellow contestant Riker Lynch, of the boyband R5, received perfect scores from the judges on their final performances. Lynch and his partner Allison Holker’s fusion of salsa and the quick-step to MKTO’s hit “Classic” was energetic and fun, making them a crowd-favorite. However, Willis and Chmerkovskiy’s freestyle performance on night one to their own cover of Britney Spears’ “Toxic” was a breathtaking one, bringing Willis’ father to his feet.
Willis expressed that she, “wanted this freestyle to be about Val and I making something that is completely our own,” and their chemistry was undeniable.
The pair definitely succeeded, as those perfect scores (and a tidal wave of votes) won them the title.
In addition to the dance performances, however, Wednesday’s finale contained some fantastic musical performances by artists such as Sia, Jason Derulo, and Fifth Harmony, plus Dancing With the Stars’ own previous contestants, Redfoo and Patti LaBelle. The highlight for us was definitely Sia’s performance of “Elastic Heart,” which also included a beautiful dance routine performed by the show’s favorite siblings, Derek and Julianne Hough.
